However, in the interim, Russell Kabir is a singer/songwriter from Oklahoma City, OK. He began writing lyrics and singing in a band when he was 13 years old, and went on to pick up the guitar at 15. His composition style is owed to the influences and examples of melodic mastermind, Kusano Masamune from the Japanese band Spitz, brilliant lyricist Jesse Lacey from Brand New, indie youtube star Jack Conte from Pomplamoose, and guitar virtuosos Tommy Emmanuel, Andy McKee, and Eric Johnson.
Russell's lyrics are derived from his poetry, which has been published in the University of Oklahoma's literary compilation sponsored by World Literature Today, 'Windmill', for his poems (and now songs) "Transcend", "Walking into the Wind", and the 2008 winner, "Atmosphere and Aether." His other published works include "Chariot" and "Ouroboros" featured in OU Medical School's 2008 and 2009 literary anthologies, 'Blood and Thunder: Musings on the Art of Medicine'.
