My early musical influences were foremost the memories of my Mom, Grandmother and their friends singing gospel music in the church and home in the hills of Southwest Missouri. Many are the memories of a hot summer evening when Mom would "pound" the piano on a Saturday night singing.
These influences coupled with many others ranging from The Ozark Jubilee to The Beatles aroused my own interests in music & especially my own songs. In my own songs, I like to keep a specific entertainer in mind when composing. I feel by doing this, it forces me to adapt to several styles & types of music.
What great fun to be a member of the Norman Songwriters Association. Writing my own originals and enjoying other members' songs has been a pleasure. Our weekly meetings not only allow a forum to try out our music but allow us to compare and learn from the other talented members.
